The Grandma Initiative

The Grandma Initiative

I began this initiative to encourage everyone to donate blood. My family and I have been "deferred" due to possible exposure to
CJD or vCJD. Donating blood holds a special place in my heart: my grandmother was able to live just a little bit longer because she was able to receive blood donated by fellow Canadians -- strangers.

Please donate on my behalf, and on behalf of all those who are ineligable. It takes only an hour of your time and can even provide you with health benefits

I'm hoping to inspire at least two dozen donations of blood as part of the Grandma Initiative. My grandma went through at least a dozen. I'd like to try and offset and exceed what she was so generously given. My fear of failing makes me reluctant to set my goal beyond 24 donations, but by all means: I challenge you to embarrass my measly two dozen donation goal.

You can donate every 56 days. Please book your appointment today through the Canadian Blood Services. Get together with some friends. I'll even go with you and pretend I'm giving blood in the next chair. Some offices even organize clinics right in the building. Grab a coworker. Donate blood!

If I've inspired you to donate blood, please post a comment so i can increase my ticker. My goal is 24!!!
